Welcome to Dear San Fernando Valley!

Dear San Fernando Valley,

Thank you for visiting our page! We are a student-led organization based out of Granada Hills Charter High School aimed at bringing social connection and a vibrant artistic culture to our valley. We would appreciate it if you would support us along our journey.

Our project currently revolves around creating a public art installation which we hope to create with your participation. We are working to make a letter collage written by members of the San Fernando Valley about their experiences during this turbulent time caused by COVID-19 and various events that have occured in 2020. This is because we believe that letters hold stories, and stories hold the power to connect and heal, which is needed in our current global and local situation. If you would like to contribute to our project by writing a letter, please visit our "Submit Here!" and "Letter Guidelines" pages for further information and instruction. We would appreciate it. We will also soon be providing examples and updating our "Favorite Letters" page, so look out for that in the future! (Btw due to the ongoing pandemic, our letter submission process is currently completely digital)

This pandemic has taken a significant toll on social connection within the community, bringing some to feel disconnected and lonely. We hope to foster these connections through our letter collection and art installation as members of the community will be able to read each other's letters and about their experiences. It has also caused extensive economic hardships for many businesses and communities, especially the arts. We want to help promote the arts of the San Fernando Valley during this time with our platform. The San Fernando Valley and its myriad of choirs, museums, bands, orchestras, and dance groups, etc. have not only connected the creative community but have also brought joy and a sense of belonging to all. If you are part of an artistic group or organization within the valley or an artist yourself, please reach out to us through our email! We would love to feature and help promote you or your group on our blog and social media!

That's it for our first blog post, but we'll be updating this blog weekly so, please stay tuned! Thank you for reading!

"A community united by the ideals of compassion and creativity has incredible power. Art of all kinds—music, literature, traditional arts, visual arts—can lift a community."
